Amanda M. Martinez

Amanda M. Martinez
Amanda has been a yoga practitioner since 2002; her introduction to yoga came in the form of a Rodney Yee tape from her sister, and by fate, a Bikram studio that opened up across the street from her work in Texas. She was in love. Fast forward to 2005: a career in makeup artistry led Amanda to California. A friend introduced her to Core Power Yoga, and it was there her passion for yoga truly came to light. In one word, yoga is FREEDOM. It doesn’t matter what class she’s taking or who's teaching, yoga is her way to step completely into herself. In 2014, Amanda completed her 200 hour yoga certification from Ra Yoga. She is a student of life, approaching all things with an attitude of abundance and possibility.

Favorite Yoga Move:

Anjaneyasana. Crescent Moon, in the full expression, requires tons of leg strength and heart lift. It's unexpectedly challenging and requires power in places you wouldn't automatically realize. I love this idea.

How Has Yoga Benefited You The Most:

Yoga has provided a source of peace and calmness that I had never been able to touch before. This is what I try to relay in every class I teach.

Reason Started Doing Yoga:

I have no idea. Fate? Yoga has led me to this very moment in time. I am exactly where I’m supposed to be.

5 Words That Describe Your Teaching Style:

Breath-based. Traditional. Focused. Calm. Sincere.
