As a swimmer, rock wall climber, weightlifter, acro yogi, yogi and water polo player, Carlos enjoys staying active. A good friend of Carlos introduced him to yoga when he learned about her trauma informed yoga classes, specifically for sexual assault survivors. Carlos decided to try yoga and immediately became a dedicated yogi. Carlos completed his initial 200-hour teacher training from CorePower Yoga. He then decided to take RA Yoga’s 200-hour teacher training to enhance his education as a yogi and learn from Jenny. At the beginning of August, Carlos will have close to 500 hours in yoga education in Vinyasa, Trauma Informed Yoga, and Hot RA class styles. In the near future, Carlos hopes to help survivors of sexual assault heal through the form of yoga, and teach acro yoga. He eventually wants to practice Tai-Chi and Kung Fu. Carlos is currently teaching Math in a local high school, and coaching Water Polo and Swimming. He hopes to start a yoga club this upcoming 2015 – 2016 school year. Favorite Yoga Move: 

Puppy Pose – I love how this pose opens up the upper backside of the body, especially for someone with very tight shoulders. I love doing good core exercises and then go straight into puppy pose to stretch out the stomach… just music to my ears!

How Has Yoga Benefited You The Most: 

Yoga has helped many individuals I care about heal from various traumas. As a result, it has strengthened those friendships. Personally, it has helped me find time to clear my thoughts and stress from school and work.

Reason Started Doing Yoga: 

Yoga is very different from all other forms of physical activity I have done. There are so many aspects to yoga, and each time I practice, I learn more.
