Favorite Yoga Move:

Seated Forward Bend (Paschimottanasana) may look like a simple pose, but it can be very challenging and nurturing at the same time. Forward folds are soothing, help to release anxiety and they promote introspection. Great for someone like me who is an introvert by nature because it helps me return to a place of calm after a long busy day.

How Has Yoga Benefited You The Most:

Yoga helps me stay focused in our modern society where we are constantly being bombarded with distractions. Every day I have to make a choice to manage the chaos of what life throws your way and genuinely direct my attention to what is happening in front of me - whether it's work, teaching, chores, working out or spending time with others. I want to be a person who is actually there living every moment in the present and to its fullest. And the tools that I learn on my mat have better helped me become the person that I strive to be off my mat.

Reason Started Doing Yoga:

Now yoga is one of my favorite forms of exercise but that wasn’t always the case. In fact, I never stepped foot on a yoga mat for the first 28 years of my life. My love affair with yoga began when I signed up for a free week at a local studio and I was hooked almost immediately. I find it such a great way to prevent injury especially for me who has a group fitness ‘class package’ addiction. Whenever I get to my mat I know my body thanks me for all of the beautiful stretching and lengthening I show my muscles after all the shortening & tighten I do of them in boxing, spin, barre & circuit classes that I take. And after seeing the improvement to my fitness over the years because of yoga, I am reminded of how capable I actually am.
