Born and raised in Redondo Beach, CA, Lauren was always interested in practicing yoga, and tried a class here and there, but wasn’t exactly hooked right off the bat. It wasn’t until after she had her first son, that she was encouraged by friend Amanda Martinez to bring him to the Baby and Me class at Ra, that she found her sense of fun and community through yoga. What started as just a way to get out of the house, became a life passion as she started trying different classes and finding herself surprised by how much she enjoyed being challenged. When she’s not doing yoga, Lauren also loves to design and create floral arrangements for her company Petals and Greens.

High lunge (crescent lunge). I love how active and strong this pose makes me feel as if I’m prepped and ready for whatever comes next. It’s great for the hips and, in its full expression, engages every muscle.
For a girl who used to avoid any kind of strenuous exercise like the plague, the fact that I have been practicing a variation of different forms of yoga, (including strength!) consistently for the past 6 years tells me I have found something that I truly enjoy. I love how yoga constantly challenges me mentally and physically. There is always a deeper level or more advanced posture to learn as your body adapts or changes. Or simply how a pose can feel easy one day, and be a struggle the next, yet it is all perfect and a part of your growth. Though I credit yoga for a healthier lifestyle and body, the biggest benefit it has brought me is a great community and second home as most of our closest friends were made at Ra.
At first it started as a way to get out of the house with my one year old, then as motivation to help get in shape for my high school reunion, but once I started practicing consistently I was hooked!
Playful. Dynamic. Graceful. Challenging. Fun.
